The World Day of the Poor in 2024 was celebrated on Sunday, November 17. The theme for this year is “The prayer of the poor rises up to God” (Sirach 21:5).
Samaritan Hope Home, volunteers and brothers joined the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist for Mass celebration.
Sunday morning Mass began with the reflection on Pope Francis’ message for the World Day of the poor.
After Mass, parishioners were invited to purchase food and drink managed by Samaritan Hope Home and many others too.
Aside from the food stalls, there were tents for free health checks and free haircuts.
Around 12 noon, lovely packed lunch was served with gift bags to the poor.
It was a very enriching day spiritually that brought joy to all, especially to the poor who are our brothers and sisters in Christ.
